The Broadsword League

The Broadsword League is an affiliation of historical fencers, organized by the Cateran Society, who compete against one another in broadsword, backsword, heavy sabre, and singlestick, in a year-long competition.

The Broadsword League is focused on individual challenge matches instead of tournaments in the spirit of the stage gladiators.

For more information about this worthy group of fencers, please visit THE BROADSWORD LEAGUE homepage on the Cateran Society Website.

The Caledonian Broadsword Academy proudly participates in the League and was competitive in 2011, with their instructor James Mungall coming in 2nd place to T. Rickert of the Broadsword Academy Germany. Also, Stanley Masinter came in 9th for those who qualified for the championship, and Jonathan Alford came in 7th overall but did not participate in enough matches to qualify. Congratulations to all the fencers and Godspeed in 2012!
